Trout Creek Hill is a near drive-up summit north of Carson, Washington. You can reasonably drive into the AZ, but you'd rather not travel the last few hundred yards to save the finish on your vehicle. So be sure and look for a good place to turn around and leave your vehicle before that last bit of road.

Trout Creek Hill is very near Bunker Hill-W7W/LC-134- you might plan on doing both in one day. In the Columbia River Gorge, get to the Highway 14 traffic circle heading up the hill to Carson and proceed north on the Wind River Highway for 8.5 miles. From the wide spot in the road that is Stabler, turn left onto Hemlock Road for 1.3 miles. Turn right before the bridge onto FS-43 also known as FS-417. You'll travel about 4.6 miles on this decently Prius-able gravel road which at one of the intersections turns into FS-4303. You'll pass through a gate (always open?) and take the fourth left onto FS-414, if I've counted correctly.

From the turn onto FS-414 it's about 1.7 miles to the summit - but as mentioned, you'll likely want to park earlier. There's a turn-around at the peak and lots of trees for antennas. Not a peep was heard on 2m FM despite many calls. With no cell coverage, APRS was used for spotting - signals were weak but eventually the spot went through.
