From the Town of Elkhorn:

Drive up the main street to the “T” intersection.  Turn right and drive past the cemetery up the 4wd trail towards Leslie Lake.  Follow the road past Leslie Lake and look for the signed foot trail as the 4wd road crests out just before the Skyline Mine.  There is limited off-road parking near the sign.  There is more parking at the mine and an easier place to turn around a short distance further down the road.  The 4wd road is quite boney & should be avoided if your vehicle doesn’t have decent clearance.  A stock 1987 4-Runner had no difficulties.  The road is open beginning May 15. 

Follow the hiking trail up to the ridge crest, then turn left and select an easier path up the ridge to the summit.  Elkhorn Peak is a bit further along the ridge and makes for a nice double activation.
